Las Marietas Island Bird Sanctuary
Whale watching season in Cabo is approx. December 15 to April 15th. Cabo San Lucas sits at the tip of the Baja Peninsula separating the Sea of Cortez from the Pacific Ocean. 
While the Pacific Ocean is the highway that many Humpback and Gray whales take to travel between their home here in Mexico and their feeding grounds in Alaska, the Sea of Cortez is a very real whale sanctuary. The meeting of these two bodies of water creates a oceanic highway super junction, and it is this area of concentration that makes whale watching in Cabo San Lucas so unique.
The cruise lines all include plenty of whale watching tours. You can choose the larger, less bumpy boats or zodiacs (small inflatable speed boats) which can legally get much closer to the action. all tours include a trip over to el Arco and the Lover's Beach coastline as well as other coastal spots depending on the tour. For individual / small group tours there are plenty of guides at the harbor offering whale watching tours. Just remember unless the tour is through the cruise line', you are responsible for getting back to the ship on time.
